What do you think, is animating something that you are born with or is it something that can be taught?
Of course it’s possible to learn how to animate, the whole process of it has to do with a lot of work, each second of the final product takes time and effort. The whole thing might take up hours, weeks or months. Of course the skills and the talent are important, but the are not detrimental.
What makes animating interesting?
Being an animator is immensely interesting. It gives you the opportunity to turn each drawing, be it a bush, a character or just an object into a living, breathing thing, to create something that is completely out of the box. In a nutshell, it gives you an opportunity to open the doors of the fantasy and imagination.
In today’s competitive environment, how hard is it to create something different and unique?
Right now, animation is quite popular and so there are a lot of creative people in the field. Truth is, harder than creating the animation is process leading up to it, planning of it, how can you take the main message to the viewer. So creating something worthwhile and competitive is quite hard in today’s environment .
How is it different to work on animated movie and on a commercial?
The truth is, working process is very much alike, main difference is the time you put into it, obviously, animated movie takes much more time.
What’s the hardest part about being an animator?
Hardest part is the working hours of it, you’re working 24 hours, all throughout the day, there’s no time for anything else.
What advice would you give to the novice animators?
Speaking from the experience, I’d advise them to work hard and be patient. In order to be successful they should never stop looking for something new. Being an animator isn’t usual 9 to 5 job, being an animator means being an artist.
